The perfect biocompatibility of lamellar solids, combined with the ability to host, with a high loading, numerous functional substances allows the realization of effective systems for:

• selective extraction of molecules and active ingredients from natural products
• vehiculation and controlled release of nutrients and fertilizers

In the first case the lamellar matrices are selected thanks to their ability to capture/extract the substances using the ion exchange and the high adsorbent capacity.

In the second application the lamellar systems are used as carriers to encapsulate and release, with controlled kinetics, selected functional molecules. It is possible to prepare special fertilizers able to intelligently administer the nutrients and bioactive substances to the plants.
