The N.E.W. W.O.R.L.D. project (Nanostructured Electrocatalysts Well-thought-out for Water Oxidation Reaction based on Layered Double Hydroxides), promoted and funded by the Vitality ecosystem (Spoke 9 – NANOMAT Hub for Nanostructured Materials and Devices), has been officially completed!
After months of research and experimentation, Prolabin & Tefarm achieved significant results in the development of new electrocatalysts for green hydrogen production.
The project led to the identification of highly efficient and promising materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), validating their effectiveness and stability under real operating conditions.
The materials developed during the project showed performance comparable to the best catalysts currently available. These include nickel- and iron-based layered double hydroxides, which offer a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to catalysts based on rare and expensive metals like iridium and ruthenium.
This represents a major advancement in the implementation of new sustainable technologies and in the green production of hydrogen.
A sincere thank you to all colleagues and partners involved for their dedication and professionalism!
